MYSTERIOUS TRAGEDY.
WOMAN MUEDERED WHILE IN BED. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright. SYDNEY, 13th December. A mysterious tragedy is reported from Armidale, a town on the main northern railway, 313 miles north of Sydney. A servant in the Central Hotel was awakened afc an early hour this morning by a gurgling sound. Looking across the room at a bed which a waitress named Hannah Kelly was occupying, she saw a man bending over Miss Kelly, and using a knife. The man rushed to a window and escaped. Miss Kelly was dead, her throat being cut from ear to ear. A man has been arrested on suspicion of having committed the murder. NO MOTIVE YET DISCOVERED FOR THE CRIME.' AN ENGAGEMENT RING. (Received December 14, 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. No motive has been discovered for the murder at Armidale. Miss Kelly had been employed at the hotel only a few weeks. An engagement ring received from her sweetheart the previous night was found under her pillow.
