A meeting of employees in the boot trade was held for the purpose of forming a union of machinists and fitters (females), repairers and bespoke hands, and rough cutters. After hearing an address by Mr. Whiting, organising secretary of the Federated Trade Union, it was resolved unanimously to comply with the wish of the federation that the present unorganised branches of the trade should be affiliated with the Auckland Opeiators' Union.
