ADDINGTON STOCK SALE.

(E7 TKLKGnATH.— raXSS AS3OOIATION,J CHRISTCHURCH, 9th December. At tho Addington live stock market today there was a fairly large entry of stock and a good attendance. l<'at cattle showed a drop in values. Storo sheep met with an improved enquiry. Fat lambs were firmer in consequence of competition from export buyers, and pigs were easier. The yarding 1 of store sheep was about equal to that of laat week in point of numbers, and there were several lines that showed quality abovo tho average. The enquiry for ewes was better than at recent sales, due no doubt to tho rain that has fallen on parts of tho plains, and all good lots changed hands at late rates, backward sorts being rather easier. Tho demand for dry sheep ■ was slack, and likely to show ho improvement until there is a more decided and general break in the weather. Tho yarding of fat lambs was much ■■larger than of late, beinjj the largest for the season, and the quality was all good to prime. The export buyers were operating for the larger lots, and this tended fto a much Armor tone in the market. The I prices they bought at ranged from 14s Id to 16s. A few heavy-weight lambs bought by butchers made up to 17s 4d, and lightweights 13s to 14s. There was a fairly large entry of fat sheep, including some prime lines of both wethers and ewes. The supply was beyond tho butchers' requirements, but two expert buyers were operating in suitable lines, And this tended to steady the market, though

prices wero on a lower lovel than those of last week. The entry of fat cattle totalled 300 hoad of fair average quality. Tho demand was much weaker, and prices showed a decline equal to fully Is 6d per 1001b. The store cattle pens were well filled, and thero wero some good lines of steers for offer. Competition was brisk, and tho previous week's prices were well maintained. Dry cows wero dull of sale at £3 10s to £7. Thero was a medium entry of pigs, and tho demand for all classes was easier and prices weaker.
