A POLICE-INSPECTOR KILLED.
CRIME NOT CONNECTED WITH POLITICAL MATTERS. LONDON, 25th November. A native constable who had been threatened with dismissal murdered Mr. Frank Clough, district superintendent of police, at Lyallpur, in the Punjaub, and his orderly. Reuter's agent states that the murder was in no way connected with political matters. Ohowdhury is a Bengali youth. At a lecture given by Professor de Witt Burton, tho Governor was present, andjust as the professor had commenced '.o speak Chowdhury rushed forward to where Sir A. Fraser was sitting with his suite, thrust a revolver within six inches of his Excellency's head, and pulled the trigger twice. Fortunately, the weapon missed fire, and Chowdhury was seized and disarmed.
