ADDINGTON STOCK SALES.
tBX TELEGRAPH— PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, 25th November. At the Addinglon live stock niarket today there were fairly largo entries of stock and a, good attendance. Fat cattle were rather firmer. Stoic sheep also showed a rise, and fat lambs were considerably bettor in consequence of a small entry, and fat sheep sold at about last week's rates. Pigs sold well, but store and dairy cattle were dull of sale. There was an average yarding of store sheep, though somewhat smaller than the previous week. The entry was made up principally of hoggets in the wool, forward shorn wethers, shorn twotooths, and the balance ewes and lambs. There was a firmer tone in the market, consequent upon tho recent shower of rain and the rise in the price of wool, though prices showed litlle change from the previous week. The demand • for ewes and lambs was not quite bo keen as for dry sheep, the ewes being mostly aged. Small lots ot ewe hoggets in the wool made 17a 6d, wether hoggets in the wool 14s shorn two-tooth ewes of medium quality to 12s 7d, shorn two-tooth wethers to 10s lOd, aged ewes in the wool with lambs 9s to 13s 5d (all counted), bhorn four-tooth ewes 15s 6d, forward shorn wethers 13s to 14s 6d. There uras a much smaller entry of fat lambs than last week, and they were practically all of primp quality. The butchers outbid the export buyers, and a, sharp rise in values took place, only ono 10l selling as low as 13s Id, and all othera from 15s lo 19s 6d. The yarding of fat sheep was not so large as last week, and included some good lines of wethors and ewes and shorn hoggets. The sale opened at last week's rates and the operations of export Buyers, who wore ablo to get a few suitable lines, kept the market firm throughout. The supply of heef consisted of 286 head, and included a large proportion of good quality. At the opening of the sale the demand was slack, and a number of pens was passed. When values had been fixed there was a better tone, and prices finally improved about 5s per head compared with the previous week. There was a good entry of all classes of pigs and fairly keen demand. Choppers sold at £3 12q 6d, heavy haeonors 60s to 755, smaller 50s to 55s (oqual to s£d lo 53d per lb), porkers 35s to 45s (equal to 5Jd per lb), larire stores ?As to 28s, largo woanerß 18s to 22s 6tl, «mallor 10* to 14s, and a. line of pure-bred Devons 25s There was a small entry of storo oattlp, mostly lighl, inferior sorts, and they met with a dull ealo at priouu Gs to 7s below the previous week's rate*.
