KARORI BOROUGH COUNCIL
The following were present at the meating of the Karori Borough Council , last evening:— The Mayor (C. I. Dasent), Councillors Spiers, Hammond, Raino, and Bradnock. In regard to tho circular issued by the Petono Council calling attention to the refusal of the Government to pay rates on certain of tho lands acquired for workers' homes, the council deoided to support the 1 etone council in its efforts to prevent 1088 of rates. A coinnvunication from Mr. IL Bailey, Standen-street, enquiring as to who waa responsible for the road in front of his property — an unfinished protection fence — . was reierrcd to tho Public Works Committee. In connection with the council's acceptance of tho^HarboUr Board's terms for the Sinking Funds Coinmissionors' loan of £1300, iniimation was received thai; the money would bo. available as follow: — Ist December, £333; 2nd December, £145 13s 3d ; 24th December, £321 6s 9d. In regard tc a letter from th*o Town Clork of Wellington concerning tho appointment of Mr. Martin as sole arbitrator to deal with the question of levelling up tho tram track a* Karori, the council decided that the Mayor should seek advice as to the advisability of going direct before a Judge of the Supremo Court under the new Act. Tho engineer, reporting on tb« proposed alterations of tho Council Chaintiers advised that to malio a permanent and satisfactory job an office for the Town Clerk £hould boTniilt adjoining. The cost of alterations and additions would not exceed £80. Tho report was referred f.o tha finance Committee.
