FATHER VAUGHAN CONDEMNS THE BILL.
COST OF CATHOLIC SCHOOLS AND THE PUBLIC FUNDS. (Received November 24, 8 a.ra ) LONDON, 23rd November. Father Bernard Vaughan, the wellknown preacher, strenuously condemns the Bill. The Daily Chronicle says the Bill ensures five-sixths of the cost of the maintenance of Catholic schools being derived from public fund.v. Regnrrtmu the protest of Catholic teachers against "contracting out," the Chronicle remarks : — 'Thsy view with natural bitterness the prospect of their schools being driven out of the uational system. This is not the desire of the Liberals — it is the penalty of the Catholic Hierarchy's refusal to accept public control." ' [The London Catholic journal, the Tablet, has declared that Catholic children must be taught the Cathblic religion in Catholic schools, by Catholic teachers, under Catholic supervision.]
