THE NIMROD'S PLANS.
CHRISTCHURCH, 22nd Nov. In conversation with a Press reporter yesterday, Captain Evans, of the Nimrod, stated that it was his intention, after leaving Lyttelton on Ist December, to proceed south under canvas, as he anticipated that strong westerly winds would be met with on the passage south. To work the Nimrod south under her sails would make it a far less strain on the vessel, and would make it much easier 'and more comfortable for those on board tl/an it was when the vessel was being towed by the Koonya. Granting that wind and weather were favourable, Captain Evans said he hoped to reach the pack ice by Christmas Day, and the time of tha vessel's arrival at Mount Erenuo would be largely governed by the conditions of the ice.
