LETTER CARRIERS' PICNIC.
On Saturday afternoon the Wellington Letter Carriers' annual picnic and sports were held at Day's Bay. Three teams took part ia the tug-of-war, and Len Sullivan's men Avere successful. Elated with victory, tho team tried a tug against Day's Day representatives, but the double test was too much for them, and victory went to the seaside residents. Toys and lollies were provided for the children. The sports results were as follow : — Letter-carriers' race 220 yards — Lawrence (20 yards), 1 ; Evenson (7 yards), 2. 100 Yards Race. —Lawrence (9yds), 1 ; Spear (3yds), 2. Post and Telegraph Challenge Cup and gold medal, 440 yards. — Evenson (20yds), 1 ; Wilson (3yds), 2. Married Ladies' Race. — Mrs. Weaver 1 ; Mre>. Brooke 2. Single Ladies' Race. --Miss Moxham, 1; Miss Hitching, 2. Visitors' Race (all starting from scratch).- J. Moffit, 1 ; J. j Smith, 2. Letter-carriers' One Mile Walk.— Miller (scr.), 1 ; Brooke (35yds),
