WELLINGTON SUBURBS.

INCREASED .MAJORITY FOR NOLICENSE. The Returning Officer for Wellington Suburbs (Mr. J. W. Salmon) completed the scrutiny of the local option ballot papers last evening. The result is that instead of No-hcense being carried by 26 f 5 votes, the majority in favour of that issue has been increased to 206 3-5. Tb°re are still twelve absent voters' permits to be accounted for. Following are the correct figures :—

CURIOUS VARIATIONS. Tha figures relating to Wellington Suburbs serve to further illustrate the point made in The Post yesterday, that the first count made by the deputies cannot be taken as an accurate guide of the final result. Nobody but the Returning Officer has the ultimate right to reject a vote as informal. At Hutt the issue apparently hangs on a thread, but the Returning Officer's pronouncement may alter tho whole complexion of affairs. -
