TICKLISH SUBJECT. THE EDUCATION BILL
COMPROMISE. AN ANNOUNCEMENT BY MR. ASQUITH. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright. LONDON, 20th November. In the House of Commons yesterday Mr. Asquith, Prime Minister, announced that the Government had decided to introduce a new Education Bill, embodying a compromise which, while not ideally perfect, yet provided for a settlement without sacrifice of principle on either side. He believed there was solid reason -ibr hoping that such a settlement would meet with, public support The Times says that while meeting the grievances of the Nonconformists the Government has evolved a plan which is in no way ungenerous towards the proper demands of the denominationalists, and' hopes that even Catholics may accept the solution.
