Mr. Cunningham Bridgeman has cum. pleted arrangements with E. Aschberg and Co., music publishers, 46, Bernersstieet, London, for the 'early production of Mr. Alfred Hill's opera, "The Moorish Maid." This news will be received with delight not only by Mt. Hill's friends in Wellington, but the music-lovrng peopJ« of New Zealand, who have wa&ohed Mr. Hill's career with interest. Mr. Bridgeman, who, it is hardly necessary to state, takes a leading place in tho musical world in London, was in New Zealand some time ago and witnessed two performances of "The Moorish Maid" in Dunedin. He expressed himself as delighted with the music of the piece, and declared that he would not rest until tho opera ,had been staged in London. A company was afterwards formed with a capital of about £10,000, and some of the shares were taken up in Dunedin and Wellington, but trie bulk are held in London.
