Ladies and Gentlemen,— l have had 'the confidence of the Citizens of Wellington for several years as one of their representatives on the City Council and other Local Governing Bodies. They further expressed their appreciation and esteem by electing me in tho first place at the recent poll. I ask you to endorse your previous action and give effect to the general desire that I should represent the above electorate in Parliament. TO THE ELECTORS OF WELLINGTON EAST. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,— If the enthusiasm of my meetings is a fair test, then I am going to do better on the Seoond Ballot than on the First. But in view of the fact that only a small proportion of the public can attend meetings, and that the time is very short, the need for more workers is very urgent. Any friends who will be good' enough to turn up and enrol for the purpose at my COMMITTEE ROOMS TO-NIGHT, at 7.30, will be putting me under a deep obligation. The general ignorance about the Second Ballot is astonishing. Some people are even now unaware that this singular institution is in existence ; others have been led to believe that their votes recorded on Tuesday last will count at tho Second Ballot; and so on, and so on. Apathy and ignorance are tho worst enemies wo have to fight. NO VOTE COUNTS BUT THOSE WHICH ARE POLLED ON TUESDAY NEXT. I am, etc., A. R. ATKINSON.
