King Edward and Queen Alexandra yesterday opened the new hall and library erected at Eton College as a memorial to old Etonians killed in the South African The King, addressing the boys, exhorted them to maintain those traditions which had made Etor> renowned in history. The pupils of Eton College, founded in 1440, consist of King's scholars or "Collegers" (of whom there are 70, and who enter college after competitive examination between twelve and fourteen years of age), and of Oppidans, who outer between ten and fourteen years of age. The present headmaster 'is the Rev. Hon. Edward Lyttelton, M.A. In 1905 Prince Alexander of Teck laid the foundation stone of tho new hall and ■ library. Old Etonians who lost their live sin South Africa numbered 129.
