WILL NOT GIVE UP POLITICAL LIFE. COMMENT ON THE CONTEST. The Hon. R. M'Nab will defer handing in his formal resignation as a member of the Executive Coupc'' and Minister of Lands, unti' the return of the writs next week To a, Post representative to-day, the Hon. Mr. ali\ ab said : "The position has not found me with nothing to do. There is now an orpoitunity, until tho next call of my party for a candidate, to proceed and put well forward — if not complete — the literary work I have been engaged in for so rany years." ''You have no idea of giving up political life?" "None whatever," replied Mr. M'Nab. "Tho conclusion of the contest at Mataura has left the most friendly relationship between myself and my successor, and I believe that that relationship will bo sufficiently infectious among my supporters that Mr. Anderson will have every reason to feel that my, supporters will take advantage of his services without bearing in mind any illwill through last Tuesday's fight. That is my wish, and I think that it will be gratified."
