"Tho conclusion of the contest at Mataura has left the most friendly relationship between myself and my successor, and I believe that that relationship will bo sufficiently infectious among my supporters that Mr. Anderson will have every reason to feel that my, supporters will take advantage of his services without bearing in mind any illwill through last Tuesday's fight. That is my wish, and I think that it will be gratified."
