CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The hearing began to-day, before Mr. Bishop, S.M., of the case Cannon versus the Canterbury Steamship Company, owners of the steamer Ripple, a claim for £100, in respect of 145 sheep which defendants failed to deliver out of 399 entrusted tc them to carry from the Chatham Islands to Lyttelton, and £50 for many of those actually delivered that were damaged. The hearing is likely to be lengthy.
