Arrangements for the twenty-third show of the Manawafcu Association are being pushed forward. The Governor officially opens the fixture at noon tomorrow. The weather is not promising to-day, the sky being' overcast and a cool wind blowing. Some prize results are available in the art classes. In photography the entries were not large, and some of last year's prize-winners are exhibiting. It is suggested that the rules should exclude these, in order to preserve variety. H. Plimmor (Wellington) was first in landscape and seascape ; Fell ( Johnsonville) second to L. J. H. Perrin in animal studies ; while the Wellington Technical School's collection of sis photographs was placed above the other two entries. The public schools division excited keenest competition. The judge ccra'mended the handwriting, but saM it i showed no improvement on last ysar. '! •Four provinces were represented. Amongst the merit awards (writing)* were many Mount Cook pupils, whoso exhibit showed up favourably amongst the hundred entries. Miss Ivy Gooder (Wellington) was first, and Miss Violet Nelson (Wellington) fiecond in monochrome drawing. Miss Lena Williamson (Wellington) came second for study of head from cast. Miss Gyles (Wellington) was first in studies of head from life in both monochrome and colour. Miss Paul (Wellington) was second in landscape from nature. Miss Butler (Wellington) was "first, Miss Gyles second, and Miss Paul v.h.c. for still-life in colour. Miss Dorothy Wall, first, and Miss Ivy Gooder, second, took the prizes for a study of animals or birds. M\ss Mason was first and Miss Dorothy Wall second in the stuffed animal study in colour. Misses Gyles and Wall were successful in the animal class from life in colour, while Mrs. Reich (Wellington) was first and Miss Dorothy Wall was second in the stuffed animal study in colour.
