RHODES SCHOLARSHIP.
VICTORIA COLLEGE CANDIDATE. Mr. Alan Macdougall, of Victoria College, has been nominated by the Professorial Board as a candidate for the Rhodes Scholarship, to be awarded early next year. The candidate is about 22 years of age, and is an M.A. of the New Zealand University, with first-class honours in English and French. His education commenced at the Terrace School, Wellington. In 1900 he •entered Wellington College, where he had a successful career, carrying off many scholarships and special prizes, including the junior and senior Turnbull Scholarships, the Liverton history prize, the Baroicoat memorial prize, and Lady Stout's prize for Scriptural history for three years in succession. Entering Victoria College in 1904, he graduated in 1907, and took his M.A. degree in the following year. Ho was awarded a research scholarship this year. In the. field of athletics, Mr. Macdougall has distinguished himself chiefly as an enthusiast at cricket and hockey. Officially, he is secretary of the College Cricket Club, a member of the Hockey Committee, and a vice-president of tho Students' Association.
