ENGLISH LICENSING BILL.
SUNDAY HOUES. By Telegraph.— Pre» Association.— Oopyrlirbt. LONDON, 31st October. Discussion on the Licensing Bill was continued jesterday in the House of Commons. A clause was adopted, by 237 votes to 55, restricting the hours of opening for licensed houses in the provinces to three on Sundays. Owing to the favourable reception of this clause, the Government proposes to extend the restriction to London houses. In Scotland publichouses have been strictly kept closeo. since 1853 ; in Ireland, with the exception of the great towns, since 1787; and in Wales since 1881 ; but English Sunday ,Closing Acts (having for their object the total closing of the hotels on the Sabbath) have always been negatived.
