PERSONAL MATTEES.
The Hon. Dr. Collins, M.L.C., leaves on a trip to England early in December. Mi. P. R. Sargood, of Sargood, Son, and Ewen, Limited, left for Sydney by yesterday's hoat. The general manager for Australasia, for Thos. Cook and Sons, Mr. George Hatch, of Melbourne, left for Sydney by the Moeraki yesterday. Mrs. Elizabeth Burton, of Wanganui, died in the hospjtal there on Wednesday night, aged 88. The deceased was the mother of Mr. C. Burton, of Wellington. Mr. I C. Evans, on severing his connection with the firm of Sargood, Son, and Ewen yesterday, was presented by his friends in the warehouse with a case of pipes. The presentation was made by Mr. W. Kirker. Mr. George Warwick, who has been transferred to the Dunedin branch of the South British Insurance Co., Ltd., was yesterday presented by the staff of the Wellington branch with a handsome travelling bag, suitably engraved, as a token of their esteem regard. Mr. L. S. Bridge* of tho A.M.P. Society, received a presentation from the staff last evening, on the occasion of his rrtirement from the inside fitatf to take up field-work for the society. Mr. Edmonds, chief of the new business department, made the presentation. Captain R. Fraser, R.N.R., who brought the Wellington harbour defence steamer Janie Seddon out from Honieand has since been master of her, is to be transferred to the Marino Department aid stationed at Dunedin as assistant superintendent of marine and surveyor of ships. He will take up his new duties on Ist January. In the board room of the A.M.P. Society yesterday afternoon, a presentation was made to Mr. Lionel S. Bridge, who for $ome years has been on the inside staff of the society. The presentation was made by Mr. Edmonds, the new business manager. Mr. Bridge has joined the outside staff as a field representative. At last evening's meeting of the Technical Education Board, leave of absence was granted to Jir. D. Robertson on account of the demise of his brother, Mr. William Drig Robertson, who died at Alicetown yesterday from pneumonia following on rheumatic fever. A motion of condolence, on the proposal of the chairman, was passed expressing sympathy with the relatives of deceased. The late Mr. Robertson had been associated with his brother in business in the city for twenty-five years.
