A LEOTUEE. DISCOVERIES OF GREAT VALUE. By l MesrM)b — Vrem AasoaUfcion,— Copyrl*hl. (Received September 26, 8.20 a.m.) CALCUTTA, 25th September. Dr. Sven Hedin, the great traveller, who has just returned from Tibet, lectured privately at Simla, in the Punjab, before the Earl of Minto (Viceroy of India), Viscount Kitchener (Commaa-der-in-Chief of the Indian army), and a select assembly of high officials regarding his travels. , Lord Miuto, in complimenting Dr. Hedin on his wonderful story of adventure and .incident, declared that the traveller had divulged discoveries of Brahmaputra Valley. Dr. Hedin has reported wonderful discoveries made by him, especially in Western Tibet. But there is,' he says, still ample room for future exploration. Among his discoveries is the fact of the continuity of a great mountain chain 2000 miles in length, and stretching from east to west, northwards of the Brahmaputra alley. Born in Stockholm in 1865, Sven Hedin has journeyed through Persia and Mesapotamia, Khorasan, and Turkestan, through Asia from Oxenburg to Pekin, via Lop-nor and Tibet, and has written many interesting accounts o£ his travels.
