MANAWATU RAILWAY.

«. TRAIN" SERVICES. The Minister for Railways, replying to Mr. Field in the Hou&e of Representatives this, afternoon, said: — The time-tafcle for the train (services over the Wellingtpn-Manawatu Railway Company's line will be to a' large extent dependent on the through services between Napier, New Plymouth, Auckland, and Wellington. These will be supplemented by local services, -which will be arranged to, as far as possible, meet the requirements of the different localities along the line, and I shall be glad to give any suggestions that are made by local bodies careful consideration, with a view to arranging as convenient a time-table as possible; but it must, of course, be borne in mind that in arranging train services the requirements of the whole of the districts to be served have to be provided for, and as the interests of the various localities frequently clash it is not possible to fix a time-table that will meet the .wishes of each, locality.

Mr. J. Parsons, for the past nine and a half years manager of Messrs Chas. ■ Hill and Sons' mercery department, has J resigned his position. He intends taking a trip to the Commonwealth. j Performing members of tho Wellington Choral Society are notified elsewhere that rehearsals will bo resumed in St. John's Schoolroom on Friday week. The City Council publishes in our advertising columns a notice to plumbers and others. Messrs. Harcourt and Co. advertise that on Friday next they will submit to public auction at their rooms, Lambton-quay, a villa residence situated at Naughton's-ter-race, South Kilbirnie, containing cix rooms, together with hothouse and summerhouse, with land having a frontage of 42ft •to Naughton's-terraco by a depth of 120 f t; also two villa residences situated at Southterrace, Kelburne, with land having a frontage of 52ffc to South-terrace by a depth of 198 ft, each containing five rooms. To-morrow afternoon, at 2.30 o'clock, Mr. W. P. Healy will sell by auction at his rooms, Cuba-street, furniture, table linen, hearthrugs, c.p. ware, etc. Mrs. Georgia Gladys Cooley will deliver messages and read characters to-night at No. 1, Home-street. in tho Y.W.C.A. Rooms to-morrow evening Mica Leslie will deliver an addreia on ['"Mm9JUk*T. Wprfc in. Chinii.".
