HAWKES BAY CANDIDATE* (B? TEIEGBAPH.— FEESS ASSOCIATION.] NAPIER, 22nd September. Mr. T. J. Thompson, Mayor of Hastings, delivered his first address to ,' Hawkes Bay electors at Hastings to/jiight. He said he was a Liberal, but -.would support /measures, not men. He " (was in agreement with the lands for settlement policy, and favoured the optional system of tenure, with opportunity to acquire the freehold on terms ■which he specified. On the liquor question he favoured a colonial poll. The» candidate received a vote of thanks. WELLINGTON". SUBURBS. > - Mr. J. E. ; who is contesting the Wellington Suburbs seat, gave an address at the Ngahatiranga -Public Hall last evening. There Was a ', crowded attendance in spite of the rainMr. Aj. Wixon presidjedi Mr. Fitzgerald's address followed closely on the lines of those previously delivered. A number of questions were put to the candidate and answered. On the motion of Mr. J. Shortis, eeconded by Mr. W. Pope, the candidate was given s, vote of thanks and confidence.
