FRIENDLY SOCIETIES' EXECUTIVE-

' ' TO THE EDITOB. Sir, — In your issue of yesterday appears a letter from Mr. A. Whiteford, secretary Wellington District A.0.P., ,with references to the F.S. executive of .Parliamentary agents. It is quite true that • his distrirt is not rer resented on. the executive, and so far -as I am aware-ho-^statement to the contrary has appeared in your columns or elsewhere. If jthe .Wellington District A.O.F. has such unbounded confidence in the city members of Parliament as to leave its> interest entirely in their hands, no out-i Bider can possibly raise any objection. Ecfual freedom of action must, however, also be extended to those societies who believe that the combined action of their own representatives tends towards progression. "Veritas," in the same issue, goes to some pains in his endeavour to prove that the agents appointed represent only their respective districts. It 5s to be regretted that statements conitained in his letter are not more in 'keeping with, the spirit of the nom-de-plume he has unfortunately chosen. Mr Jennings, to whom "Veritas" refers as .representing a section of his society, as, in fact, the duly accredited representative of his order throughout the entire Dominion, as also are three others of the six agents so far appointed. Over 25,0000 members are so far represented on the executive, the organisation of .which is not yet complete. There is good reason to expect that within a .week the executive will speak on behalf of 40,000 members. — I am, etc. A. LEIGH HUNT. Wellington, Ist July, 1908.
