PERSONAL MATTERS.
The Rev. G. S. Compton and Mrs. Compton will leave for England before the end of the month. Mr. Tom Mann has returned to Wellington from the south. He proposes remaining here for a short period. Mr. E. Gallichan, general secretary. oi the Liberal and Labour Federation, leaves Wellington on 6th instant on a visit to the Auckland province. Lieutenant Duigan, R.N.Z.A., of Waoganui, who has completed his two years' military training course in Engjand, left for New Zealand last May. Mr. T. E. Donne, Superintendent of the Tourist ■ Department, left for Auckland to-day in connection with the arrangements for the visit of the American fleet. Miss Kathleen Beauchamp, daughter if Mr. Harold Beauchamp, chairman of the Bank of New Zealand, will be a aassenger for London by the Papanui on Saturday. Monsignor the Count Vay de Vaya, *-ho visited the Dominion a year or two *go, has been appointed to the abbacy >f St. Martin, in Hungary, by the Emperor of Austria. Mr. .J. Geoghan, of the Electoral Department, was last evening presented with a gift by his fellow officers, on the jeeasion of his transfer to the Government Life Insurance Department. The presentation was made by Mr. F. W. Mansfield, Chief Electoral Officer.
