Company's turbine steaiirer Maheiio passed That point en route to Wellington fiom Sydney. Acccrdingly she should arrive in the stream about 7 o'clock this evening-. After pratique has been granted, the vessel is to berth at No. 6, Queen's Wharf. KUMARA AT POST CHALMERS. The Shnw, Savill, and Albion liner Kuniora which arrived at Port Chalmers on Saturday from London, experienced for the inoet part moderate weather on the voyage. The Otago Daily Times reports that the. only heavy weather was encountered when about 300 miles west of the Snares, when a strong S.E. gale pie vailed upccn-psnied by high seas, which impend the. vessels progress somewhat until nearing the coast, when the wind' moderated and thick weather set in, which made cautious navigation necessary, Cape Saunders being the fir3t lajid seen since passing Teneriffe. Captain Morton, is still in cnarge of the Kumara, his officers being Mr. V. Barnsdale, chief; Mr. H. .Edkins, second ; Mr. C. Lee, third ; Mr. G. Brown, fourth. Mr. Naismith ie in charge of the engineroom, and Mr. J. Reid ia refrigerating- engineer, Mr. Hicks being steward-in-charge. TUUAKINA AT MONTE VIDEO. Cabled intimation reports the arrival on last Swday morning at Monte- Video of the New Zealand Shipping Compauy's steamer Turakina, wliich left Lyttelton: on the 9th, June tor London. A new steamship (according to the Lyttelton Times) was imugurj;ed last -reek between Lj'ttetton, Akaroa, and Dunedin by the s.B. Kotare. The venture was well supported in the way of cargo, and it ie thought thai the service will meet a lonjrfelt want of comm'inication with tho south. Mr. Robert Galway, one of the engineers of the Matatua, who was seriously injured on board the vessel last month, will arrive from Gisbcrne in a few days to await orders from the Shaw, Savill, ond Albioa Company.
