DUNEDIN NOTES.
[Bt TEwraKArH.— Special to The Post.] DUNEDIN, This Day. The price of milk will be raised a half-penny a quart as from Ist June. The Dairymen' 8 Association stated that is is compelled to do this on account of the high price of all feed products and to a large extent by the failure of the ! turnip crop. Even with this advance prices locally will not be as high as those charged in almost every other city in New Zealand, where the milk was advanced in price in March last. Local bodies at present suffer an injustice under the provisions of the Public Works Act, which provides that an owner can dedicate land to a local body for which the latter has to pay compensation whether it thinks such land should be taken over or not. Mr. Arnold, M.P., has been requested to introduce a Bill next session on the question, and has consented to do so.
The presnnfc series of matches between tho Anglo-Wolsh and tho representatives! of the Dominion is bound to oauao a good deal of interest in Wellington and district. For those who ara not interested in football wo are offering special bargains in our mantlo department which wo feel sure you will bo interested in.
