LATE SPORTING. WANGANUI J.C. MEETING. SECOND DAY. [BT TELEGBAPH.~rHIBB ASSOCIATION.] WANGANUI, This Day. The weather is unfavourable for the second day of the Wanganui J. C. meeting. Steady rain set in last night, and is still falling, militating against the attendance, which, notwithstanding, is very good. Results :—: — Winter Oats ; one mile. — Irish Rifle, 7.10, 1} Ballarat, 7.6, 2; Waitapu, 8.7, 3. Scratched : King Billy, Rendrock, Silver Lead, and Gleam. The winner led all the way, and won by two lengths. Time, lmin 47sec. Grandstand Steeplechase. — Kaipetipeti, 10.1, 1 ; Tilson, 10.9, 2 ; Fretwork, 9.12, o. Also started : Eurus. Tilson led until two furlongs from home, where Kaipetipefi passed him, and won by a length, after a fine finish. Eurus stumbled a quarter of a mile from home, the rider coming off. Fretwork finished twenty lengths away. Time, smin 4sec. Balgownie Hack, one mile and a distance.—Lamsdorfi', 7.7, 1; Mallet, 8.9, 2 ; San Jose, 7.3, 3. Scratched : Virtus. Won by a head, after a great finish ; San Jose, a neck away, third. Time, 2min 1 3-ssec. Century Hurdles. — Waipu 1, Compass 2, Prospector 3. Scratched : Defeat and Mount Cook. Won by a couple of lengths. The winner and Compass came very fast over the last half mile. Aeolus was fourth. Time, 4min 2 2-ssec. TAKAPUNA J.C. MEETING. SECOND DAY. Hauturu Hurdles. — Omati 1, English 2, Cavalier 3. Also started : Cuiragno, Hautapu, and Noteorini. Won easily. Time, 3rain 32 2-ssec. Second Pony Handicap. — Octoroon 1, Necktie 2, Waihou 3. Scratched — Glenora, Fraulein, Lady Ferris. Won by half a length. Time, lmin 16 2-sec.
