A BRITISH COLUMBIA IDEA. STANDARD'S SUPPLEMENT. INTERESTING INFORMATION. By Tde«raph.— rre«9 Asecßiation.— Copyrijht. (Received May 22, 10 a.m.) BRISBANE, This Day. At a conference of the Associated Chamber of Commerce, it was agreed to co-operate with the Vancouver Chamber in an effort to secure inter-Imperial news being exchanged between various parts of ihe Empire. (Received May 22, 8 a.m.) LONDON, 21st May. The Standard's Empire supplement is of good appearance. Interesting information regarding the Commonwealth, Victoria, West Australia, and Queensland fills a page advertisement. Mr. Bonar Law, M.P., contributes an article explaining Australian preference Lord Milner writes on "The Meaning of the Wider Patriotism." The supplement will be issued weekly, and will, it is said, contain abundance of colonial news. Though the venture is subsidised both by the Canadian and Commonwealth Governments, it is un» derstood that the news published in this "Standard of the Empire" is to be free of all party colour. Mr. J. C. Latham, barrister, of Collins-street, has been appointed to look after the Australian cable message, and has been instructed to despatch 500 words every week. Mr. Latham has received the appointment directly from the proprietors of the Standard, and a circular in his possession announces that "the political interests which the 'Standard of Empire' will endeavour to serve will be those not of this State or that State. . . but those of the Empire as a whole."
