The main roll of the electors for the general Parliamentary elections closes to-morrow. Members of tho City Council arc tnking part this afternoon in tho formal opening of tho new Kolburne waterworks. Tho surface reservoir is situated on the city pide of the Karori reservoir, and as tho pumps which force tho water up aro now in good working order, everything is in readiness for Hooding tho pipes. An enterprising Westport resident is carrying on coal boring operations at CapQsFoulwind. Ho has passed through lignite coal and has reached a covering such as is usually found over bituminous coal.
