ADJUSTMENT OF ACCOUNTS.
Mr. W. Short, of tho Roads Department, began an enquiry this morning at the Hutt County Council offices, in order to ascertain the state of accounts between the Hutt County Council and jicislhouvnu BorougJi Council, yvilh a view to their adjustment. Mr. A. de Bathe Brandon appeared for tho Hutt County Council, with the chairman (Mr. Galloway) and the secretary (Mr. Atkinson), and Mr. Orfifin for lhe Eastbourne Borough Council, with tho Mayor (Mr. F. G. 80/ ton), and tho Town Clerk (Mr. A very).
The swimming classes carried on by Mr. T. Shields at the Te Aro baths are productive of excellent results, and would appear to fully repay him for the amount of troublo ho takes. A few days ago twenty-six of his youthful pupils went up for certificates for distances ranging from 200 yards lo two miles, and all of thorn passed.
