THE REGATTA.
V, tO-XtORRO W'S;;paOO^AW^R 1 1t is highly probable that the regatta to be held under the auspices of the Wellington Rowing Association, to-mor-row will -be one of' the best held in Wellington for some. time. Large entries have been received, ' and all the crews have been training consistently, so that the races will be' well ' worth witnessing. The entries come from different parts of thfe^D6riiinioii, and the- local representatives will find iheraselves very fairly matched. The Blenheim senior c,rew has also befcn doing good work,. and the men flhould give a good account of them.setvesl" In the senior double sculls Wanganui is thought to stand a very fair chance. Th.c crew, is. composed of Marshall' and "Jl'Dbnal'd. The' other day the ,t>vp .men vowed. each other in sculls. I M'Donald won the race after a good J fight, and he will, represent the Wanganui Club in the senior single sculls event. All the- youths' crews this year are reported to 'be strong. Canterbury is supposed to have a very good crew, but the Star youths, who have been doing a considerable amount of training, Will probably be past the post first. The Wellington Club, too, has a strong youths' crew, who ■ are determined to make a very good race of; it. For maidep double sculls and junior pairs, the crews, for the most 1 part, are taken from the fburs. The' senior pairs will furnish, a close contest; Blenheim and Canterbury will take a lot of beating. The senior single sculls will be another interesting event. The Star Club has - two representatives in this race — G. H7 Fell, who has been training hard, and A. T." Bendall, the previous winner. ""M'Kinley, representing the Wellington Club in this event, had the misfortune last evening to break. his scull. ,Ow:ing to the uncertainty of smooth "tfater^atf Wellington, the exact position where the races are to take place will not be decided until to-morrow. If the wind is from the north the races • will be rawed at Petone, and a blue flag "flown on the Post Office tower to-morrow morning will denote that this course has been decided on. A red flag will indicate- that the regatta will be held in the vicinity of the wharves. It has been arranged for the Duco to follow the races. , r , ,
