[Bi Telegbaph — SrEci.u, to The Post.] AUCKLAND, This Day.One 0" the most interesting educational fe.itures to visitors to the Ruakura experimental farm in the Waikato is the model apiary, where- the culture of bees is now being conducted on modern commercial lines. A Star reporter states that at tho ajJiary may be seen in use all tho most modern appliances, from the hivo to tho ripening tanks. In one compartment of the tank which holds altogether about 25001b there was honey ready to run off into tins for tho market, while into the other some was running from the extractors through three strainers and was a very fine sample. From the taking of tho honey from the hives to the tinning, it is never touched by hand so that it goes through an absolutely clean process from first to last. Mr. Hopkins, the Government expert, is at present conducting a series of experiments in ascertaining the specific gravity of all tho honoy ho handles, in order, if possible, to gft a standard for ripe honey of different varieties. A collection of honey from all parts of New Zealand is being made by Mr. Hopkins lo form an exhibit at the coming FrancoBritish Exhibition in London. The Tawaha settlers aro in a bad way just now not so much on account of iires a3 owing to the unprocedently dry weather. Thero is no feed, "no crops, nothing to go on with.
