FIRE AT KILBIRNIE. TWO HOUSES DESTROYED.
A fire occurred at Kilbirnie at halfpast 12 o'clock to-day, at the residence of Mr. D. O'Donnell, builder, Duncanterrace, oft Crawford-road. The File Brigade promptly proceeded to the scene, but. before its arrival Mr. O'Donnell's house of seven rooms was totally destroyed. The firo spread to an adjoining house recently occupied by .Mrs. Gifdlestone. Tho brigade succeeded in extinguishing the blaze before the second Building was totally destroyed. Thr fire was caused through the upsetting of a kerosene stove upon which beeswax and turpentine were being melted in a pot. Mr. O'Donnell's house was insured in the Commercial Union for £700, and the contents, about half of which wore destroyed, were insured in the South British for £350. Mrs. Girdlestone's house was insured in the Sun Office for £500, and the furniture for £300. The Kilbirnie Brigade rendered splendid service.
