THE WESTPHALEN. The Norddcutcher Lloyd Company's steamer Weetphnlen is due at Auckland to-morrow fiom Bremen via Sydney. After unloading her cargo, the steamer will take in cargo, and leave for Sydney, Antwerp. Hamburg, and Bremen, early next week. THE SAN FRANCISCO SERVICE. The cargo steamer Foreric, Captain D. A. Gardiner, which arrived at Auckland from San Francisco direct on Saturday, had 1200 tons of general enrgo for New Zealand ports, abput one half of which ws>= for Auckland. Tl.e next steamer is the Yeddo, which left San Francisco on Saturday. She is due at Auok land about the- 13th March, and has 600 tons of cargo for that port. THE ENNERDALE. The Maortfand Steamship Company's steamer Ennerdalo (Captain, W. M. Jluir), which arrived at Auckland from Sydney on Saturday morning, ha* a cargo of 700,000 ft of hardwood timber, of which 300,000 ft is for Auckland and the balance for Wellington. Captain. Mulr reports leaving Sydney at 8 a.m. on the 7th February, and experienced moderate variable . winds for three days, thence strong south- and south-east winds and confused sea to anchoring inside of Tiritin on Friday night, the sfeamer coming into poa-fc as above. When about 140 miles off Cape Maria Van Diemen very Sense smoke was encountered. The Eunerdale is due at this port on Friday. I DUNEDIN'S NEW DOCK. At the time when negotiations were being ' carried on for it« construction (states the [ Dunedin Star) a good deal of stress was laid on. the fact that, by building the new dook, vee- ! eels would be able to go into dock on ihe I day of tlreir arrival here, have their bottom? | cleaned and painted, and be ready to come | out the following morning to resume the work of loading or discharging cargo. The new dock is now practically completed, nnd it remains to be seen whether these expectations will be realised. As far as the handling of tho dock is concerned, it is gratifying to find, judging by the despatch the Waikare received on her last trip, that their realisation ie assured. 'Tho Waikare went into dock at half-past 1 on Friday afternoon,, and at halfpast 10 the came night she w«b cleaned and painted and ready to be taken out, which was done half an hour after midnight. During tho ten hours 19,840 square feet of her hull and bottom' had been scrubbed, scraped where necessary, and painted. Tho docking of the Waikare! although looked on as a very good performance, is not considered to have touched the limit of pressure despatch. INVERMAT "SPOKEN." The barque Invermay, which is 92 days out from Liverpool to Wellington, was (according •to the Commercial News) spoken on Ist January in 35deg 29min. south latitude and 20deg. llniin, cast "longitude. LORD SEFTON. The A. and A. steamer Lord Sefton, which has arrived ftt Auckland from New York, via Australia, is expected to leave the northern poit nn S'turdny for Wellington. The vessel has 1520 tons of cargo to dischaige here. The tramp steamer Marto, which left Sydney lusfc Friday for South America, is expected to put into port at Wellington en route for bunker coal. She should make an appearunoe shortly. Tho two following charters are gazetted in tho last files of the Commercial News:—Empreza. barque, 236 tons, Kdithburg to New Zealand, reilt ; Alexa, birquentinc, 285 tons, Clarence River to Wanganui, hardwood. Captain Read and Mrs. Read are through passrngers to Dunedin from Auckland by the Monowai. Although the steamer Putiki .lists now been running abnu'f three y.earg (reports the Christ; church Press), she has made only two visits to Lyttelton. The vessel was built at Auckland, nnd about two years ago made s visit to Lyttelton under charter to the Union Steam Ship Company. She arrived on Monday at Lyttelton on her second trip, bringing a. full load of timber from Gieymouth. She is expected on completion of her discharge to sail for Wellington, Wanganui, and Greyniouth.
