[BT TELEGRiFH. — PUESS ASSOCIATION ] AUCKLAND, This Day. The late hurricane reported from Fiji was met by tho steamer Kazembe on the way fiom Vancouver to Levuka. Speed had to be roduced, but no damage was done. , The Waiapu, which arrived from Niua on Saturday, had to slip her anchors off the island, and run to sea on 3rd January owing to the hurricane. She lost her big topboat and a suit of sails, and did not get back to the island for four days. Tho weather coming on bad again, she left for Auckland. Off the Kermadeca she met with a heavy north-east gale, lasting for two days, with thick and dirty weather. The jiurricane did some damage to the banana plantations at Niue, but cocoanuts escaped. .
