SUPERANNUATION.
UNIVERSITY PROFESSORS AND OFFICIALS. Tho question of superannuation came before the Univertity Senate yesterday iv consequence of a- recommendation of tho committee — Thafc tho senate should communicate with the Government with a view tn the Government providing . a Pchemo for the superannuation of professors and other officials of tno university and its affiliated institutions on the Fame footing as that provided for the public service. Rev. W. A. Evans proposed that the matter should be submitted first to the Profe&sorini Boards. Professor J. R. Brown agreed with this' view, as there were certain differences between such a scheme as applied to, teachers and to professors. The question of insurances entered largely into the position of the professor. ' Rev. Cameron suggested that the College Councils should also be consulted. This suggestion was embodied in tho rnQtion, and, with the omission of the words "on the same footing as that provided for the public servico," the recommendation - was adopted.
A deputation from the New Zealand Institute waited on the Hon. J. A. Millar yesterday to .urge -upon him the necessity of greater expedition being shown in the publications of the transactions of thp society. Mr. Millar replied that he would do his best to ha^e the work done as eaily as possible.
