ASIATICS IN AFRICA.
THE TRANSVAAL REGULATIONS. SYSTEM TO BE RECONSIDERED. By Telegraph.— Pre-rs Association. — Copyright LONDON, 27th January. The Daily Telegraph's Johannesburg correspondent states that the Government, realising the seriousness of the situation, has decided to completely recdnsider its whole attitude towards Asiatics. The Government will appoint a Supreme Court Judge to examine objections to the Registration Act, with a view to rendering the system of identification effective without being offensive. This will be, presumably, on the lines successfully followed by Lord Milner in • 1903. The law will be amended n.ext session, says the correspondent. Meanwhile the Act will be held in abeyance, and" put into operalior again whon the Government feels assured of strong support in carrying out a courageous decision.
