A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. RAIN WANTED. fßr Telegraph.— Special to The Post.l LEVIN, This Day. A serious accident occurred yesterday afternoon in the bush to an employee at Mr. Bartholomew's mill. Charles Crighton, engaged in trucking logs, fell ■whilst applying the brakes on a difficult and dangerous incline, and the wheels passed over his right arm, completely stripping the muscles and flesh from the upper part and badly crushing the bone. He walked three miles to the mill^ where Dr. Mackenzie attended to him about half-past five, and ordered his removal to the Qtaki .Hospital, where was taken last night. It js not yet known whether the arm may be saved, but it is feared amputation vvill be necessary. The water in tho Horowhenua Lake is so low that it is only with the utmost difficulty that the Rowing Club can launch its boats. They have therefore decided not to allow any to be taken out for a time. Ham is badly needed through the whole district. The Education Board has removed a very old building from the original sito in Bath-street to the grounds of the public school* and with additions this is to serve as a residence for the headmaster. N The cogc of removal would seem to be out of all proportion to tho value of the building.
