WAIHI MINING NEWS. THE EXTENDED MINE.

[Br TELBSRAra.— Special to The Post..! WAIHI, This Day. The cross-cut into the ma.in lode (No. 2) at No. 4 level in the Wailu Extended Mine has penetrated 20ft oi clean quartz, but whether the true hanging wall has been reached is not yet known. While cross-cutting the lode a band of mullock about 2ffc wide was passed through, and it is possible that the country now in hand will prove to be another band with more quartz on the other side. This, however, can only be ascertained as development work proceeds. Meanwhile a lise is being put up to connect vith •the No. 3 winze for r ventilation, and is now up from 8 to 10 feet. A further 3ft should connect the rise with (Jie winze, and with the improved ventilation then afforded the work of driving l.oth ways en the reef will be proceeded -vith and cross-cuts will be projected at intervals to prove the width and values of the ore body. Nice mineralised quartz, similar to thac met with in the cross-cut, has been carried up in the rise, and everything points to a strong oody of stons being exposed at No. 4 level.
