TROUT NETTING.
in* TELESRArn.— PKESS ASSOCIATION.] INVEROARGILL, 17th Dec. Joseph Gough Thomas, Davis George M'Chesney, William Samson, Frederick George Stevenson, and Francis Webb were charged to-day that on 17th November, in the new River Estuary, they did net- trout without a license so to do, contrary to the provisions of the Fisheries Conservation Act and this year's amendments. Ranger Friend said he had - watched tho men out floundering, and had detected the taking of two trout, which he subsequently found in the boat. M'Chesnoy said that he alone handled tho trout, and that the others had nothing to do with it. He was convicted and fined £5, with £2 9s costs. The informations against the others were dismissed, and costs, 10s each, were allowed to Webb and Samson, the two lads. A second charge, alleging tho use of a seine net within the radius of half a mile seawards from the mouth of the stream, contrary to the Act, was adjourned till after the holidays.
