* HUTT VALLEY TROTTING QLUB. The new stewaids of the Hutt Valley Trotting Club held their first meeting at Petono last evening, tho 'president (Mr. O. S. Watkins) being in the chair. Mr. R. W. Short, the secret-Try, reported that arrangements had been* concluded with the Petoro Boiough Council in connection with a lease of- tho trotting grounds, the club to hnvo control of the hotting track conditionally upon nil training f&es being spent on improving tho trnck. The club's credit balnncc was Tepoitcd to be £38 12s lid. This, with members' subscriptions now duo, would ennble the stcwirrls to be^in the season with nt ltdst ,0100. It was resolved to hold a two days' meeting on Boxing Day (Tlnucdny)'and the Satiudny following, at which stakes to the amount of £610 would be given. A programme of fourteen events was submitted by the secietary, and after discussion referred to a sub-coimnittee, consisting of Mcssni. •J. J M'Grath, Redmond, Craig, and ShaTpe, for report. The following officials were appointed:— Judge, Mr. Chns. W. Earle ; timekeepers , Messrs. A. Laurenson and W. F. Roes; handicapper, MrJ. H. Pollock ; starter, Mr. A. Cometti ; clerk of scales, Mr. H. Kdwaids ; clerk of course, Mr. A. Palmer. Messrs. J. J. M'Grath and R. J. Smith were appointed to re : dra{t a set of rules for the club. Owing to Mr. Wutkins accepting the office of pre-ident of the club, his seat as a. steward became vacant, and Mr. J. Elvines was elected to the position.
