Satisfactory arrangements have been made between the Ashley Water Supply Board and the City Council, re taking water from tho Waimakariri River for the city's electrical supply. There were three alarms of fire in the city yesterday, but only one was for anything important — a fire in a two-story house. The building was not destroyed altogether. It was insured in the Alliance for £150. HIGH PRICES FOR DAIRY STOCK. NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day. Wonderful prices were realised at an auction . sale of dairy stock (chiefly Jerssyi in the late Allen Bell's estate at Piiniho yesterday. Buyers attended from as far as Auckland and Palmerston. One bull realised £66, a cow £40, and a six weeks' calf £18. The whole herd of 100 was keenly competed for.
CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Information has been received that in the case Warner's, Ltd., v. the Lyttelton Times Co., Ltd., a claim for an injunction and £500 damages, th& Privy Council has reversed the decision of the* Court of Appeal, which was in favour of Warner s. The case is therefore now settled in favour of the Lyttelton Times.
