SCOTTISH CHURCHES DISPUTE.
ELGIN COMMISSION'S ENQUIRY. By Telegraph. -Press Asanciation.— Copyright* (Received July 31, 9.Z0 a.m.) LONDON, 20th July. Tho Elgin Commission, appointed to enquire respecting tho Scottish churches dispute, estimates tho United Firee Church funds at £1,354,720, and allotted £310,000 to the "Weo Frees," besides what was awarded before. It is estimated that tho United Frees lost altogether half a million. The opinion is oxpressed in Scotland that the Commissioners havo been lavishly generous to the Wee Frees.
The dispute is of old standing. In 1906 an Act of Parliament was passed under which an Executive Commission was set up to allocate tho property, etc., as between the United Free Church L and the "Woo Frees" or Free Church of Scotland.
