EXPLOSION IN NEW YORK.
ATTRIBUTED TO BLACK HAND SOCIETY. TWENTY-ONE PERSONS BURNED TO DEATH. By Telegraph.— Prcas Association.— Copyright. NEW YORK, oOtb July. An explosion, attributed to the Black Hand organisation, preceded a fire in a New York tenement house. Twenty-ono persons — mostly Italians — were burned to death and twenty in« jured.
According to a cable message, the "Black Hand" gang of New Orleans recently captured a boy, son of a wealthy merchant, and demanded £1200 ransom. It not being forthcoming immediately, they broke the boy's neck and carved up his body. These are only two of many crimes committed by the detostable organisation.
