TRAGIC DEATH OF A NEW ZEALANDER.
WHILE EN ROUTE FROM WELLINGTON TO SYDNEY. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright. SYDNEY, 30th July. Mr. Charles Siddells, of Wanganui, New Zealand, a passenger by tho Winimera from Wellington, died just prior to the arrival of the vessel at this port. The deceased was unwell when he began the voyage. On Sunday evening he was caught trying to escape through a porthole in a lavatory. The, ship's officers burst the door and seized Mr. Siddells by the legs just as he was disappearing. They hung on wnile tho vessel was stopped, a lino lowered, and the unfortunate man hauled aboard again. Mr. Siddells was then in a serious condition, and he gradually sank. Tho deceased was a prominent supporter of W. Webb, of Wanganui, and his visit to Sydney was to witness tho sculling race next Saturday between Webb and Towns.
