fD7 TELEGRAPH. — PBESS ASSOCIATION.! MATAROA, This Day. James Peacock, son of Mr. Peacock, builder, Mangaweka, was killed at Ohakune yesterday afternoon through the capsizing of a dray. NAPIER, This Day. A man named William Henry Mooney, aged 76 years, was found drowned in the Inner Harbour yesterday afternoon. He left his home early on Sunday evening and was seen about 8.30 p.m. As he did not return home last night search was instituted, which resulted in the body being found as above. Deceased was a widower and had been rather strange and unsettled since the death of his wife about a year ago. DUNEDIN, This Day. ' At an inquest concerning the death of William Brown, who was buried by a fall of earth at the cite of the Presbyterial College, North-east Valley, on the 25th inst., a verdict of accidental death was returned, no blame being attachable to any one.

At the Newtown Public Hall last night Dr. A. K. Newman dsliv6red) an interesting lecture on. "The Origin of the Maori." The lecturer stated that there was no doubt that the Maoris came from Raroionga, and advanced arguments in support of hid contention. The lecture was given under the auspices of the City Council. Rev. Father A"insworth was chairman, and to him, as well as to the lecturer, and Mr. W. Warren (who gave demonstrations on the "putatara"), votes of thanks were accorded. Messrs.
