Heakes, assistant chief veterinarian, who h.u.3. been appointed by th-a Government to make an inspection cf the Christchurch city abattoirs, arrive. d in town on Saluiday morning, and in company with Mr. J. Kerrigan, veterinarian for Otngo, proceeded to the abattoirs in the aftcrmon. Mr. Beakcs's report will be submitted in the first instance to the Minister of Agriculture. -The ordinary m-seting of the city council will be held this ovoning at I with the report of tha. Abattoir Com- j mittee and the special report of the ! abattoir manager us to the statements made in connection with the abattoirs j will be brought up.
