LOCAL AXB GENERAL. The annual conference of tho New Zealand Licensed Victuallers' Association will be held in the Oddfellows' Hall, Larnbton-quay, on Bth August. The Wellington branch of tho association will be represented by Messrs. F. MTarland (president), M. Nathan, A. M. Gow, A. Haywood, and H. J. Williams (secretary). When crossing in front of a tramca'r in Manners-street about five minutes past live o'clock on Saturday night, a blacksmith named David Brogmus hesitated and then went forward, with the remit that he was knocked down on the roadway and received injuries at the base of the skull; He was attended by Dr. Young, and afterwards taken to the hospital, where he is now reported to be progressing favourably. Brogmus had been rnsidiug at No. 30, Taranaki-street. Mr. W. S. Liddle, the touring cyclist who is travelling round the world, gave an account of his experiences ut tho Thorndon Bicycta Club Rooms last week. Mr. W. H. Townshend presided. At the conclusion a vote of thanks was accorded the speaker on the motion of Mr. A. Baxter,.
