In the midst of a heavy shower of ! ram the Wellington Harriers started on j their weekly rup on Saturday, the course being laid from Beilevue Gardens at the Hutt by B. De Bakker and F. Wil- j ton. After crossing a fair amount of level counting the trail led up the hill beyond Waiwetu. and descended higher up the valley through a big patch of burnt gorse 1 , thence along the Wahretu- ■ roud-and back' 6ver some muddy padlocks. The, pace whioh was tet f aUf! maintained by the pack showed plainly the great improvement which «jacb/ individual mqmbeu has made during the season. The run ir« waa woh by H. J. Pollock, with W. Tall a close second, and W. Bennett 'third. The Harriers' annual road race, which is being held this year under the auspices of the Wellington Centre of the N.Z.A.AA., is already creating a great amount ul interest in athletie'cireles, and a large entry of teams is anticipated. The Harriers' team will probably contain a number of men -wjio have not yet been seen in open company, but of whom great things are expected.
